Handle all jewellery carefully as not to scratch the stones.
Always put on jewellery after dressing, applying hair spray, make-up and perfume.
Remove jewellery first before undressing.
Always store separately wrapped in a soft cloth or tissue. Best of all store each piece in an individual box with padding.
Keep away from high temperatures as heat-sensitive stones such as opal, which have a high-water content, may crack.
Wipe pearls with a damp cloth after wearing them to preserve lustre and stop them becoming dull.
Stones such as tourmaline have a strong thermo-electrical property when warm that can attract dust to their surface so
regular cleaning is advisable.
Clean silver components with a silver polishing cloth.
Ask a professional jeweller to clean very dirty pieces of jewellery.
Re-string as soon as jewellery as soon as you notice any signs of wear.
DO NOT
Keep or place jewellery in bright sunlight as the colours can fade if exposed for long periods. Keep a special eye on
amethyst, kunzite and red tourmaline.
Wear gemstones while doing housework, gardening or other physical exercise.
Spray oils, perfumes, body lotions and household cleaners on jewellery as these can affect their colour.
Wear your jewellery overnight or put it under your pillow.
Swim, bathe or shower with your jewellery on.
Treat your hair or use any colour solutions whilst wearing your jewellery.
Use commercial jewellery cleaners such as silver dip, ultrasonic cleaners, hot solutions or any abrasives on gemstones.
Hang your jewellery on a hook, as it will put an unnecessary pressure and will lead to breakage.
Store your jewellery unprotected, jumbled up together, or in the bathroom.
