Haematite tumblestone 

Haematite, also known as kidney ore is a lustrous, opaque, blue-black to silvery grey mineral often used in jewellery.  Haematite is an iron oxide that is red in colour which can be seen when powdered or scraped on a hard surface.  It was often used for seal stones, cut as intaglio. Used for beads, faceted, carved or cut as a cabochon for use as a gemstone.  The ancient Egyptians carved haematite into scarabs.  Haematite is found in England, Mexico, Australia, Brazil, and the Lake Superior region of North America.
