AMAZONITE

Amazonite tumblestone
Amazonite is a gem variety of microcline being potassium aluminium silicate. It is usually polished as a cabochon. Amazonite varies from bright verdigris green to a bluish green and is semi-opaque.
It is sometimes called amazonstone or amazon stone, possibly because one of its sources is Brazil, although not from the Amazon regions.
Its striking colour is due to trace impurities of lead.
Hardness 6 to 6.5
